Dry Cleaning FAQs

How do I use the 2ULaundry dry cleaning bag?

Use The Black 2ULaundry Dry Cleaning & Launder bag for any delicate items, especially those made of natural fibers such as wool, linen, silk, etc. that could shrink with exposure to water. Dry Cleaning will prevent shrinkage and color loss while maintaining the texture and shape of the garments.

The Dry Cleaning Bag doubles as a laundry bag and hanging bag. For pickup, flip the hanging bag upside down, place your garments down in the bottom of the bag without hangers, and cinch it fully closed. We do not currently accept the use of personal hangers.

How does the dry cleaning process work?

We clean each item according to its care label, so simply place everything for Dry Cleaning or Launder & Press services in the same bag, and our Clothing Care Professionals will take care of the rest. Keep reading for more details on how we handle dry cleaning.

Check in: Upon arrival at our facility, each item is checked in for cleaning and will be placed into the appropriate cleaning category for Dry Cleaning or Laundering based on its care label.

Cleaning: The items are cleaned in non-water-based solvents. The cleaning process safely cleans garments of stains and odors without risking damage to the clothing.Garments are placed in a large industrial machine based on color and are submerged in the chemical solvent. The clothes are cleaned in the fluid at a low-spin, which brings stains to the surface. They’re then fully rid of the chemical and stains during a super high-speed spin cycle. Clothes are completely dry when removed from the machine, at which point they are thoroughly checked for any stains that may require additional treatment prior to being pressed. Stained items will either be sent back through the Dry Cleaning process or spot treated.

Pressing: After the cleaning process, items will be pressed to give them a crisp, professional look. Almost all items are pressed by hand except for men’s button-down dress shirts, which fit the mold of a special pressing machine. The machine can press the shirts at a much faster rate, which creates efficiencies and allows us to offer this service at a slightly lower price.

Packaging & delivery: All pressed items will be packaged for delivery and can be hung or folded based on your preference. To ensure we meet your cleaning needs, make sure to notify Customer Care of any folding preferences in advance of your pickup.Hanging items will be wrapped in a thin, protective plastic wrap and then placed back inside your Black 2ULaundry Bag. Orders are typically bundled in groups of 12 or fewer items to uphold quality. Any extra items will be placed outside The Black Bag in a separate bundle.Folded items will be professionally wrapped, folded, and returned in a separate white paper bag.All orders are checked against each customer’s receipt before leaving the facility to ensure all cleaning requests are met and everything is accounted for upon delivery.

Can you take care of minor alterations and repairs?

2ULaundry offers minor alterations and repairs such as button replacement, hemming, zipper repair, and minor sewing for simple tears. We are not able to accommodate anything that would need to be tried on and fitted in person, as we do not have a store front. Minor alterations and repairs typically take up to 7-10 business days, so please schedule your pickup accordingly as we are not able to put a rush on turnaround time.

Have a repair need? Please contact Customer Care in advance of your pickup to ensure we can accommodate your request. We can also provide a price quote if needed, as alterations and repairs will vary in price based on complexity.

Please use The Black 2ULaundry Dry Cleaning Bag for your alterations and repair items.

What is starch?

Starch is a powder added to clothing in order to create stiffness or structure to laundered items. It’s traditionally added to the second washing cycle for items that are laundered and pressed.

Starch is not typically added to Dry Cleaned items unless it’s sprayed on after the cleaning process. You can indicate your starch level preference during the signup process and make adjustments using our mobile app at any time.
